Week Three!

Hi again readers,
The group and I are in the middle of our final week here in London. We have been here across the pond for little more than two and half weeks which is exciting and fun. The time has gone by so fast with all our packed days. It is a bummer though that the class and I only have a couple more days left here in London.

The first half of our week consisted of us traveling throughout England. We were in Bath for the first two days and got the chance to explore the Roman Baths and even drink the water from those springs. The next day and a half consisted of being in Stratford Upon Avon where we were able to visit Shakespeare's grave and see his wife's house Anne Hathaway.

Today was an exciting with a combat stage workshop. The workshop taught us the ways of pretend fighting that is done by actors. The combat director informed us on the ways of fighting that is best done on the stage and the best fight scenes for a movie. How stage combat is only pulled off when the viewer can not see the tricks of it. Throughout the workshop the director taught us how to pretend slap, punch, choke, and pull hairs of each other. I personally had to add in the Darth Vader grip choke move for all the Star Wars fans.

After the workshop stopped in Gelato shop in the middle of Russel Square which is a park near our hostel. This evening the class and I headed out to the play called The Play That Goes Wrong. Just as the title says this play does have everything go wrong from actors forgetting lines and asking for help, to actors knocking out one another when opening doors. The comedy murder mystery started off a little slow for my personal taste. By half way I was cracking up at all their jokes and witty humor. The end of the play got very chaotic with actresses fighting one another, the stage was falling apart, while the actors were trying to do their lines. All in all I enjoyed the play and thought it was pretty funny.

The final part of the night was able to hop in a little family run restaurant and get a shake before it closed that I had been eyeing. I enjoyed a chocolate shake. This was an excellent way to end the night.

Thanks for reading

  1. We have been very busy this last week. It seems that every day has been packed full of activities and last minute stuff that we want to do before we leave. I definitely agree with you about the play I thought it was hilarious towards the end but I think I personally liked the 39 steps a little more just because it was more clever and witty with the humor in it.
